Call for Proposals, JSQPS 2026 Winter Meeting

We are pleased to announce that the 2026 Winter Meeting of the Japanese Society for Quantitative Political Science (JSQPS) will be held on January 6-7, 2026. We invite oral and poster presentations based on original research. Please find below detailed information about the meeting and proposal submission. 

1. Date and Venue: 

* Date: January 6 (Tuesday) & 7 (Wednesday), 2026

* Venue: Waseda University, Waseda Campus (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, Japan) 

* The meeting will be held in person only.

2. Goals: 

* We welcome research proposals that focus on empirical and positive research in political science for submission to international journals in English. 

* Both English and Japanese presentations are welcome.

* We particularly encourage applications from graduate students, early-career researchers, and  women scholars. 

* We accept proposals for poster presentations. 

* Compared to typical academic conferences, we will allocate more time per presentation for deeper discussions.

* We intend to provide opportunities for interactions between Japan-based researchers and those who are based abroad.

3. Proposal Submission: 

* Please submit your proposal using the link below by October 31 (Fri), JST: https://forms.gle/bkMxocr3dB1adKR36

* Notifications regarding decisions will be sent in mid November.

* While you may submit multiple proposals for co-authored works, please note that you can only make one presentation.

* We will prioritize applications submitted with a paper draft for oral presentations.

4.  Notes

* The program will be posted on the JSQPS website around the end of November to early December.

* Presenters are requested to submit their presentation slides and papers by late December. Detailed instructions will be provided after notification of proposal acceptance. 

* If you wish to participate in the conference, please join JSQPS (membership is free of charge).

* There will be a registration fee. The exact amount will be posted when registration opens. The fee will be nonrefundable once it is paid. The balance will be deposited to the JSQPS's account.

* We request that presenters participate in the entire program for the day of their presentation, not only in their own session, so we can maximize opportunities for discussion and socializing.

* For those participants who need documentations about the meeting, we can electronically issue the following two documents:

  1) an official invitation letter (at the time of registration)

  2) certification of attendance (after the meeting)

  Please understand that we will not be able to provide you with further assistance regarding your visa application process.

計量・数理政治学会 (The Japanese Society for Quantitative Political Science, JSQPS) 2026年冬季集会での報告者を以下の要領で募集しますので、奮ってご応募ください。日本語での報告・討論も歓迎します。

1. 日時と場所

* 日時：2026年1月6日（火）・1月7日（水）

* 場所：早稲田大学早稲田キャンパス（東京都新宿区）

* 形式：対面開催のみ

2. 内容・目的

* 広く計量・数理政治学について、主に英文ジャーナルに投稿することを目指している論文の報告を募集します。

* 日本語・英語での報告・討論が可能です。

* 院生、若手研究者、女性研究者の積極的な応募を歓迎します。

* 1本の報告に長めの時間を割き、充実した議論を交わします。

* ポスター報告の枠も設けます。

* 国内外の研究者の交流の場になることも企図しています。

3. 報告応募締切と方法

* 10月31日（金）までに、以下のサイトよりお申し込みください。https://forms.gle/bkMxocr3dB1adKR36

* 1人で複数の（共著）論文を応募することは可能ですが、報告は1人1回のみとします。

* 実行委員会で応募内容を審査し、11月中旬頃に採否をメールでお知らせします。

* 口頭発表を希望の場合、応募時に論文の提出があるものを優先的に扱います。

4. その他

* 11月下旬〜12月上旬にJSQPSウェブサイト上でプログラムを公開します。懇親会も予定しています。

* 報告者には、12月下旬までに報告スライド・論文を提出していただきます。アップロード方法等詳細は、報告採択後にご連絡します。

* 大会への参加を希望される方はJSQPSへの入会（会費無料）をお願いいたします。

* 参加費を徴収します（金額は登録までにお知らせします）。支払われた参加費の返金はできません。また、残金が出た場合も、JSQPSの会計に繰り入れさせていただきます。

* 参加者間交流と議論を深めるため、報告者の方には基本的に終日参加していただくのが本研究会の趣旨です。

* 諸手続きを要する参加者のために、実行委員会として以下の2点の書類を電子的に発行することができます。

  1) 参加登録の際に、公式の招待状（official invitation letter） 

  2) 大会終了後に、参加証明書（certification of attendance）

  ビザの申請手続等のためにこれ以上の対応を行うことは、基本的にできませんので、ご理解ください。
